Top 5 Best-Selling Cases on the Steam Marketplace

Top 5 Best-Selling Cases on the Steam Marketplace

Cases in Counter-Strike 2 are among the most frequently traded items, highly sought after due to their guaranteed weekly drop. Out of four weekly reward options, the case is almost always the most valuable pick, which ensures their steady flow into the game. As a result, some of the most frequently dropped cases remain widely available on the marketplace, despite the high rate at which they’re opened. In this article, we’ll discuss the top-selling cases on the marketplace, their current prices, and the items you can find inside. Using the special feature of our Steam Inventory Helper extension, we’ll also reveal drop rates and potential return on investment (ROI).

5. Snakebite Case

1. Snakebite Case
  • Listings on the marketplace: 105,927
  • Price: $0.32

In fifth place is the Snakebite Case, with over 100,000 units listed on the marketplace. This case has been in the game for over three years and initially received a lukewarm response from the community. Its rarest items are gloves from the Broken Fang collection, introduced with the operation of the same name. Many expected these gloves to remain exclusive to the Broken Fang case, sparking investments. However, shortly after the operation ended, Valve released the Snakebite Case with the same gloves (a time when updates were more frequent).

Aside from the gloves, the case content leaves much to be desired. Its standout item is the AK-47 | Slate, a sleek black skin that has become popular among players. Other rare items like the M4A4 | In Living Color and USP-S | The Traitor have lost their appeal, each now priced below $20 in Field-Tested condition. Due to the modest prices of rare items, the case generally returns just over 50% of the amount spent to open it (ROI).

4. Gallery Case

2. Gallery Case
  • Listings on the marketplace: 144,923
  • Price: $0.92

A recent addition, the Gallery Case, has a unique history and could become a highly regarded case over time. Unlike most cases from operations, it can only be acquired with stars. Once the Arsenal event ends, it will become limited in supply, much like other operation cases that tend to rise in price two to three years after release. For example, only about 2,000 Operation Riptide cases are currently available on the marketplace.

This case is also unique because stars can’t be purchased; they must be earned through gameplay, making it less accessible. Despite that, the Gallery Case is in fourth place, with high trading volume as players try to recoup their event pass costs. It features popular skins, and some Military-grade items even offer a potential return. The drawback is its inclusion of the less-desired Kukri knife, with players generally hoping for items like the M4A1-S | Vaporwave or AK-47 | The Outsiders instead.

3. Kilowatt Case

3. Kilowatt Case
  • Listings on the marketplace: 217,848
  • Price: $0.73

The Kilowatt Case, eagerly awaited by the community, debuted with CS2 and introduced the Kukri knife along with a groundbreaking skin rental feature. This feature is believed to help items retain high value, as newly opened skins aren’t available for rental on the marketplace. The Kilowatt Case is also memorable for the first Zeus x27 skin and new designs for updated weapon models, marking major innovations!

Currently, the Kilowatt Case is one of the most common rewards, a trend likely to continue. Despite frequent drops, the case maintains a decent price, with a return rate of over 70% – nearly ideal for a case.

2. Fracture Case

2. Fracture Case
  • Listings on the marketplace: 411,180
  • Price: $0.28

The oldest case on this list, the Fracture Case, has been in circulation for four years, resulting in its large marketplace presence. Its contents have lost some of their appeal, and opening rates have declined. The knives feature default patterns from the Shattered Web operation, with Gradient being the most expensive option, but they don’t attract much interest. Many players prefer cases featuring the Wave patterns, which are significantly more valuable.

Among other items, the Glock-18 | Vogue and Desert Eagle | Printstream are visually appealing and have become signature skins of the case. However, few players actively hunt for them and often purchase them directly from the marketplace. It’s possible the Fracture Case will move to a rarer reward segment, but even then, it would take time to increase skin prices and rekindle interest

1. Recoil Case

5. Recoil Case
  • Listings on the marketplace: 456,991
  • Price: $0.18

With nearly half a million listings, the Recoil Case has a staggering supply. This abundance stems from a lack of unique items and the same gloves from the Broken Fang collection appearing in its rare slot. The initial excitement for the USP-S | Printstream and AWP | Chromatic Aberration faded, along with their prices. The case’s low cost doesn’t entice players to open it, especially considering the low ROI.
